Creating Art with AI

We have been having some fun creating original artwork through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Getting Started

We got started with AI image generators because we wanted to make some fun images for our TMA profiles. Let me tell you, it is pretty addictive!

Midjourney is our favorite AI image generator. What it produces is great, but it is a bit weird. See, you can't install Midjourney on your own computer or use a nicely designed web app. The only way to access it is through Discord. And Discord is s chat app. Yes, weird, I know!

Here is how you get started.
  1. Sign up for Discord.
  2. Sign up for Midjourney, and accept the invitation to the Midjourney Discord channel.
  3. Go to a #newbies channel, and type: /subscribe.
  4. Pick your Midjourney plan. Free works, but a small subscription lets you play more, and gives faster results.
  5. Head back to Discord, and start generating images.
  6. Edit, upscale, and download your creations.

Building Our Moto Profiles

I wanted a lizard riding a dirt bike in the desert. Here are the words that I used to generate the first round of images.
"An anthropomorphic lizard dressed as a Dakar desert racer on a dirt bike. Cyber punk style."
It you love one of the creations you can easily download it. If you like one and want to see more variations of it, that's super simple. Then again, you can always tweak your wording to get different results.

Other Fun Creations

Here are some other creations. If you are tuned in to our social media, you may have seen one of these.

Getting Fancy

Let's take things to the next level. Chat GPT can be used to help tweak your images. Here's how it works.
  • Open Chat GPT and type [prompt]
  • After [prompt] add your descriptive text for the image you are looking to create.
  • Chat GPT will create 3 descriptive text paragraphs. Copy one and paste it into Midjourney.
  • Although I won't explain it in here, Chat GPT can then be used to add or remove certain elements through using [good] and [bad] prompts.

Wrap-Up

We are having a LOT of fun with this. We encourage you to get in there and play around. If you have tech-savvy kids, they can likely help you with Discord and Midjourney.
